Remo Stars Dim Lobi Stars 2-0, Sustain Lead In NPFL As Heartland Still Languish At Bottom






Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo dimmed Lobi Stars of Makurdi 2-0 in a top of the table clash on Thursday, to sustain their lead in the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL with 29 points, after week 15 round of matches 

Two late goals from leading scorer, Sikiru Alimi in the 90th minute and Olamilekan Alade within sixth minute of stoppage time gave the Skye-Blue side the much-needed three maximum points pushing Lobi Stars to the third position with 26points 

Doma United of Gombe are closely in second position with 28points after their lone-goal win against Heartland of Owerri who are still languishing at the bottom of the table with 13points


Bendel Insurance of Benin-city narrowly defeated visiting Abia Warriors by a lone-goal to move to the fourth position with 23points while the visitors are in the eight position with 20points 

Defending champions Enyimba International of Aba are in the fifth position with 23points after settling for a one-all draw with ninth place Enugu Rangers with 19points in an Orientation derby on Wednesday 

Plateau United of Jos are currently in the sixth position with 22points after their 2-1 loss to homeside Kwara United of Ilorin who are in the 11th position with 19 points, while Kano Pillars are in the seventh position with the same number of points after suffering similar lone-goal defeat to their host,  Niger Tornadoes of Minna who are occupying the 16th position with 16points 

The match between tenth placed Shooting Stars of Ibadan with 19pointd and 17th placed Rivers United of Port-Harcourt with 15points has been postponed till later date, due to continental engagement of the Pride of Rivers who are still walking on a tight rope, after their disappointing 3-0 loss to leaders, Club Africain in Tunisia in the last CAF Confederation Cup group 

12th placed Gombe United are with 19points after their lone-goal win against visiting Katsina United who are occupying 14th position with 17points while Sunshine Stars of Akure are closely followed in the 13th position with 18points, after their goal less draw with homeside Akwa United of Uyo who are still struggling in the 18th position with 15points 

Sports Lagos are occupying 14th position with 17points after their one-all draw with visiting relegation threatened Bayelsa United of Yenegoa who are still in the 19th position with just 14points
