Ogun NIPR Celebrates Sen.Adeola, Varsity's Proprietor, Outstanding Members..Launches Compendium In Grandstyle






Ogun State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), ended year 2023 in a grandstyle with a get-together of  who is who in Public Relations practice and other professions at colourful award ceremony held at MITROS Residences, GRA, Abeokuta in the state capital

The institute used the event to appreciate outstanding individuals including its members who had in one way or the other contributed to the growth of the society and Public Relations practice in the country

Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola  was presented with Ogun NIPR Iconic Award alongside old members of the institute, PA Owolabi Onajobi and Chief Adeniyi Oduwole while General Adebanjo Awosanya was honoured with 
Ogun NIPR Award for his commitment to development of education sector , particularly with the establishment of Aletheia University in Ago-Iwoye ,his country home in Ogun State 

Other awardees were past Chairmen of the Chapter, which included Mr Femi Dokunmu, who bagged Unsung Hero Award, Mr Akin Okudero, Mr Tope Adaramola, Mr Lekan Togunwa who received Exemplary Leadership Awards, among others, in recognition of their immense contributions to the Chapter, the State and Nigeria at large.















The gathering also featured a pep talk on "Leading Right" delivered by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Mr Jola Oyeneye and the launch of the maiden Compendium of Public Relations Professionals in the State.

In his opening remarks, the National President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, represented by a Council Member, Mr Tope Adaramola said the President and Council Members had taken giant strides at rebranding NIPR in Nigeria which informed their meeting with the Federal Cabinet Members, including the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu




The meeting according to him,  informed the right caderization of NIPR professionals in the public service and thus a change in the nomenclature of Information Officers to Information and Public Relations Officers. 

Also speaking, the State Chapter Chairman of NIPR , Mrs Oluwaseun Boye whose tenure started a year ago, said, the present excos' task has been defined by dedication, resilience and hard work, leaving no stone unturned at ensuring revival of NIPR activities in the State. 







Based on the various programmes put in place by the Excos, Boye said,  "all our 'run-away' members are back to the fold, while a good number of those who are yet to be re-certified have done so. In our commitment to promote inclusiveness and growth, we recognize the importance of welcoming new members into our esteemed community, while old members should strive to undergo further professional courses and get upgraded continually on the professional cadre."


She also hinted the gathering that NIPR Ogun State Chapter will be hosting the Institute's Annual General Meeting, tagged Nigeria Public Relations Week, a convergence of Public Relations professionals both in public and private sectors across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, here in Abeokuta from 22nd to 26th April, 2024.






Delivering a pep talk on Leading Right, Mr Jola Oyeneye explained that everyone is a leader in different capacities, beginning from the home front but decried the dearth of good leadership in many spheres of Africa where  many leaders are guilty by their wrong acts of leadership. 


He enumerated qualities of right leadership to include, lifestyle of integrity, being respectful, showing empathy and compassion to the followers, as well as being a lifelong learner. 





The icing on the cake to the event was the launch of the maiden Compendium of Public Relations Professionals in Ogun State, which according to the Chapter's Chairman, Mrs Seun Boye, showcases a glimpse of certified professionals' qualifications as well as their certification number, which would be reviewed periodically on the Chapter's websites as it  provided a valuable resource for businesses, organizations, and individuals seeking the services of certified PR professionals. It serves as a go-to guide for those in need of expertise, fostering trust and credibility in the selection process.



Gen.Awosanya appreciating the awards given by the institute on behalf of the awardees, expressed their commitment to always support the  state chapter of NIPR in its activities and ensure the growth of the Public Relations practice in the country 





Dignitaries at the occasion include the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, represented by the ACP Haruna Adamu, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Prof Olusola Kehinde, represented by the Assistant Registrar, Mrs Oluwatoyin Dawodu, the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Information, Alhaji Waheed Adesina, and a host of others.
