Ogun Govt Votes N353m For Rehabilitation Centre, Construction of Women Development Centre, Home For Gender Based Violence Victims





Ogun State Government has earmarked N353million for completion of its Fatty Lammy Rehabilitation Centre at Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta, as well as Women Development Centre at  Kobape and Special Home for Victims of Gender Based Violence amongst other capital projects for the 2024 fiscal year 

The State Commissioner for  Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Adijat Adeleye made this known on Monday before members of the State House of Assembly while defending the over N1.005bn total budget proposal for the Ministry contained in the State 2024 budget appropriation bill

She requested for more support from the Assembly towards checkmating Gender Based Violence (GBV) and gender inequality.

She explained to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi that over N651m was being  earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while the sum of over N12m was being expected as revenue  for the period.

She commended the Assembly for identifying with the Ministry through their strategic roles of orientating the
 grassroots on gender based issues, especially the enactment of relevant legislations to protect the women and other vulnerable groups.

Other agencies that defended  their budget estimates for the next fiscal year included the Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives, its Youths and Sports counterpart as well as the Office of the  Auditor General  for State and its  Local Government counterpart amongst others
