Ogun State Government is to expend N3.89billion on the construction of additional hostel blocks of 150 rooms for hostel use per location for the schools of Nursing and Midwifery situated at Ilaro, Ijebu-Ode, Idi-Aba, as well as the construction of additional classroom for the State College of Nursing at Abeokuta, Ijebu and Ilaro respectively.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker revealed this on Monday during her defence of the 2024 budget proposal of the Ministry and its allied agencies at the ongoing budget defence before the State lawmakers led by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Musefiu Lamidi at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
She added that the ministry planned to expend a total budget of N11.410bn consisting of N9.1billion for capital projects and N2.213billion for recurrent expenditure with revenue target of N135.3million for the next fiscal year.
Giving a further breakdown of the budget proposal, Coker disclosed that 10 ambulance points would be constructed with two per five health zones in addition to M & E which will gulp N300.6million
In a related development, the Permanent Secretary, State Hospital Management Board, Dr.Olayinka Elemide, has assured that the Board would continue to ensure effective management of all health facilities in the State to promote a healthy well-being of the people, thereby improving on the life span of the average residents of the State.
To achieve the above, the Board proposed to rehabilitate existing Hospitals across the three Senatorial District of the State, while expanding community Mental Health Centres, three Dental Centres with additional dental laboratories.
To achieve the foregoing, Dr. Elemide noted that the Board had proposed a total budget proposal of N12.707bn; consisting of N4.315bn for recurrent expenditure and the remaining N8.392bn to cater for capital projects with revenue projection put at N400m.
