Ogun Govt Issues Traffic Advisory As Final Burial Activities of Late Educationist, Iyalode Lawson Begin On Tuesday




Ogun State Government has announced the closure of Oke-Itoku Junction inbound Sapon in Abeokuta, the State capital as from this Tuesday, 5th of December, 2023 when the activities for final burial of late foremost educationist, Iyabode Alaba Lawson  

The State Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo who announced the closure in a traffic  
 advisory issued on Monday, notified  
the general public, particularly the motoring public that the road would not  be accessible to traffic till  Friday, 8th December, 2023, due to the heavy flow of human and vehicular movement anticipated during the service of songs and other burial activities put in place for the late Iyalode of Egbaland, Chief Mrs Oluwaseun Alaba Lawson

He stated in the advisory that the activities are scheduled to hold at the Osile Oke-Ona Egbas Palace, Sapon, on the said days.

"Consequently, inbound traffic from Ake and environs to Sapon will be diverted to Sapon/Ijemo-Agbadu/Ake near Oke-Itoku Junction, thereby temporarily converting it to a two-way traffic for the duration of event on each of the two (2) days", he added 

According to him, activities for Day 1 on Tuesday hold between  2pm  and 8pm while Day 2 (Friday, 8th December,)  hold between the same time period  

"Nevertheless, TRACE ditto other safety and security agencies will be deployed along the routes in question to ensure effective and integrated traffic management in order to limit delay and traffic congestion", he stated 

While pleading with members of the public and road users along the axis for their cooperation and understanding for any inconveniences this might cause, the Ogun State Government assures that the strategy put in place would minimize delay and guarantee orderliness 

Late Iyalode was the founder of Lawson Group of Schools, Abeokuta, former Chairman of Governing Council of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta and first female President of Nigeria Associations of Chambers of Commerce, Industries , Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA ) amongst others positions
