16th Day of Activitism: Ogun NLC Boss Condemns Molestation Of Women, Girls





Ogun State Council of Nigeria Labour Congress has condemned in strong terms, all forms of molestation or  violence against women and girls in the country, calling on government at all levels to deal decisively with the ugly trend, by bringing those found guilty in such unholy acts to book

The State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Hameed Benco-Ademola made the call on Tuesday in Abeokuta, during a capacity building seminar marking this year's Global 16th day of Activism which has its theme: "Invest To Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls (ILO C 190) 


Benco-Ademola at the event organized by the State Council of NLC , also called for upward review of the current 30 percent allocation of appointments to women, stressing the need for  government at all tiers to give more recognition to women in governance for the betterment of the society 


The State Chairman of NLC who was speaking on the theme for the seminar, " Role Of Women In The Development Of Trade Unionism In Nigeria", appreciated women for their immense contributions to various aspects of economy in the country, particularly their immeasurable commitment to nation building 






The event attracted members of women committee of NLC and various women groups in activitism in the state 


The United Nations has set aside 25th November to 10th of December annually, as 16 days of Activism for Global Campaign to challenge violence against women and girls and a day for observation of promotion of International Day For Human Rights
