TASUED Students/ Community Francas :University Not Yet Reopened- Senate

The management of the Ogun State Government owned Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode has dismissed the rumour being spread around that the Institution will be reopening this Tuesday, 13th of June, 2023

Registrar of the university, Dapo Oke in a statement made available to Edu-biznews on Monday, clarified to students, parents as well as guardians and general public that the Senate was yet to make decisions on reopening of the Institution contrary to the rumour being peddled around

The management in the statement, recalled that TASUED was shut down by the Institution's Senate two weeks ago, in the wake of the Imaweje/students' clash, after which a Committee was set up to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the crisis and the circumstances  that led to the death of a 300 level student of the University.

The Senate of the Institution according to the statement, is expected to meet this Tuesday, 13th of June, 2023 to consider the report of the committee for necessary decision, assuring the parents and students of making an official pronouncement on the reopening of the Institution through the media

The management of TASUED however urged parents and guardians not to allow their wards return to campus until the official reopening of the university

The statement reads in parts:

"The Management wishes to inform students parents, guardians and the general public that the University Senate is yet to make decisions to reopen the University as against the rumour being peddled around that the University will be reopening tomorrow(Tuesday)

"Please recall that following the shut down of the institution by the University Senate about 2 weeks ago, in the wake of the Imaweje/students' clash, a Committee was set up to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the crisis and the circumstances  that led to the death of a 300 level student of the University"

"Consequently, the University Senate would hold a meeting tomorrow, 13th June, 2023, to receive and consider the reports of the Committee and thereafter take necessary decisions as regards the reopening of the University"

"The University wishes to put it on record that there would be an official announcement for the reopening of the institution".

"Members of the public are hereby enjoined to monitor the media for the official announcement".

"In the meantime, parents and guardians are advised not to allow their wards back on Campus until the University is officially re-opened", the statement concluded
