President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the Student Loan Bill seeking the creation of Students Loan Fund to provide the students with the needed credit facilities to complete their education in their respective Institutions of higher learning
The signing of the bill is in fulfilment of one of the campaign promises made to students during his campaign.
Spokesman to the president, Mr Dele Alake who made this known on Monday to State House Correspondents in Abuja , said that the funds would be domiciled in the Ministry of Education and would only be accessed by indigent students of tertiary institutions.
The student loan bill sponsored by the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and passed by the house two weeks ago, provides interest-free loans to indigent Nigerian students
The law is to provide easy access to higher education for indigent Nigerians through interest-free loans from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund
