Yewa Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture (YECCIMA) has asked both the Federal Government of Nigeria and Ogun State Government to provide more fund for the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to further boost economic activities in the country
The financial support according to the chamber, will go a long way in generating more employment opportunities, reducing crimes and making life more meaningful for the citizens of the country.
The President, Yewa Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture (YECCIMA), Alhaji Wasiu Taiwo made the call while speaking with newsmen in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State,
Taiwo added that SMEs were capable of engendering growth through creation of more jobs that provide opportunities for sustainance of the economy
He noted that the Chamber would not relent in contributing its quota to the growth of SMEs and promised to continually partner with the government towards engaging youths in productive ventures that would engender the socio-economic development of the State.
According to him, "the government through the CBN should step up its interventions in funding the small and medium scale enterprises. This will create jobs and raise the standard of living of the people. Effective funding of the small and medium scale enterprises will drastically reduce the high rate of unemployment in the country".
