Teachers in public secondary schools in Ogun State will begin to get their outstanding leave bonuses as from this week, so as to boost their morale and improve their productivity in the classrooms
Governor Dapo Abiodun who revealed this in Abeokuta on Monday during an interaction with members of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary School Teachers in the State, said he had given approval for the payment of leave bonuses for the months of January and February
‘’ What we did was that, as from January of 2023, we will start paying leave bonuses in installments with your salaries, every month, you get a chunk of it, so that it won't accrue any more’’, the governor stated
Governor Abiodun said his administration was currently working towards paying a lump sum to clear some part of the global deductions owed secondary school teachers in the State, noting that within 24 hours, they would hear from the government.
Abiodun promised that the position of the Principal-General would be gazette, while ensuring the four of them would get their official vehicles before the end of the week.
Earlier in his remarks, the State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Felix Agbesanwa, commended the governor for his laudable steps at repositioning the education sector, applauding him for restoring the Office of the Principal-General and the introduction of the Learners’ Identification Number which allows parents and guardians to track the progress of their children /wards.
