National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has re-accredited 22 existing academic programmes for the Ogun State Government owned Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Abeokuta, just as the board regulating academic programmes in polytechnics and other forms of technical education in Nigeria inspected nine new additional academic programmes for accreditation in the institution
Head, Public Relations and Protocol of the polytechnic, Yemi Ajibola who revealed this to Edu-biznews on Monday, listed the new additional academic programmes inspected for accreditation to include Higher National Diploma (HND) in Microbiology, Environmental Biology, Environmental Management Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Hospitality Management and Leisure and Tourism
Others include HND in Procurement and Supply Chain Management and Nutrition and Dietics as well as National Diploma in Library and Information Technology
He disclosed that the polytechnic would begin to admit students into the nine new programmes after the report of the NBTE visitation team who inspected the programmes for accreditation as from next academic session of 2023/2024
"NBTE had a resource inspection for these programmes to start. Hopefully, the Polytechnic will commence admission into these programmes by the next academic session,"Ajibola stated
Similarly NBTE re-acredited 22 other existing academic programmes for the Institution
"MAPOLY recently played host to its regulatory body, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for purpose of re-accreditation of 22 existing programs and resource inspection of nine new programs as well as the institution to determine its capacity to continue to run these programmes that were targeted at producing manpower for technological development of our nation," he added
The 22 existing programmes re-accredited include;ND Building Technology, HND BuildingTechnology, ND Architectural Technology, HND Architectural Technology, ND Urban and Regional Planning,HND Urban and Regional Planning, ND Quantity Surveying, HND Quantity Surveying, ND Civil Engineering, HND Civil Engineering, ND Computer Engineering ,HND Computer Engineering and ND Hospitality Management
Other reaccredited academic programmes are ND Electrical Engineering, ND Mechanical Engineering,ND Banking and Finance, ND Art and Design, ND Leisure and Tourism, ND Statistics, HND Statistics,ND Pharmaceutical Technology and HND Chemistry
The polytechnic's spokesman expressed the management's appreciation to Govermor Dapo Abiodun for the support given since 2019 to MAPOLY while commending the staff of the Institutions for their understanding so far
