A don at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB),Professor Olufunmilayo Braide has charged youths to think out of the box by acquiring the needed entrepreneurial skills and stop depending on academic qualification to secure jobs
Braide gave the charge in her lecture during a seminar organised by Owu Youths Forum on Thursday as part of activities to celebrate the 14th coronation of the Olowu of Owu,Oba Adelola Matemilola and the 2022 annual odun Omo Olowu.
The guest speaker who is a leading producer of Adire and Kampala, textile materials, asked youths to venture into legitimate means of making money in order to contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation.
"Academic pursuit is not enough to be financially independent with the realities of the world, it is therefore important for the youth to acquire an entrepreneurial skill, be creative, consistent and resilient to scale through in life", she enjoined them
Also speaking, the Oganla of Owu kingdom and Otun Balogun of Erunmu-Owu, Chief Johnson Olu -Fatoki advised people particularly the youths against the unending search of greener pastures outside the country encouraging them to key into the many opportunities that abound in the country.
Earlier in a remark, the Oluroko of Erunmu, Oba Abdulwaheed Adeotan urged the youth to stop their overdependence on white collar jobs which are unlimited asking them to be productive as an idle hand is the devil's workshop.
