MAPOLY's Lecturers Boycott 2nd Semester Exam Over Unpaid Salaries, Other Demands




Lecturers at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic(MAPOLY) Abeokuta have boycotted the rescheduled second semester examinations of the Ogun State Government's owned tertiary Institution over alleged unpaid outstanding salaries and allowances

Chairman of the polytechnic's branch of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Comrade Babatunde Osifalujo and General Secretary, Comrade Tomisi Adegunle  who made this known in a communique jointly signed by them  and made available to Edu-biznews on Wednesday at the end of the union's emergency congress held on Tuesday, vowed that they would not participate  in the supervision of the examination until all their  demands were met by the management 

The lecturers are demanding the immediate payment of all their outstanding salaries and allowances as well as payment for a minimum of three (3) semesters of Part-Time Claims from the entire 
outstanding owed by the Management of the polytechnic

The union is also insisting on the immediate remittance of all pension deductions from staff salaries put at 55 months which it stated must be accompanied with the institution's counterpart funding

ASUP in the communique asked the Ogun State Government,Governing Council and theManagement to urgently take measures at ensuring the financial stability and sustainability of the institution.

According to the union," All deductions from some staff salaries in respect of the Federal Housing Scheme should be refunded forthwith" 

"The over 27 monthsof check-off dues deducted but not remitted should be paid to the 
unionin earnest", ASUP stated 

"No academic staff shall further participate in the rescheduled 2
nd semester, 2021/2022
examination until our demands are met"

"We remain committed to the upliftment of education in Ogun State but not to the detriment of our 
welfare."the communique concluded
