The West African Examination Council WAEC has warned principals of Secondary Schools and supervisors involved in the conduct of the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination WASSCE for school candidates in Ogun State, to desist from any form of malpractices or be ready to face the risk of being sanctioned by the examination council
Branch Controller of Abeokuta Office of WAEC , Mr. Ayobami Suberu who read the riot -act on Friday in Abeokuta to principals and supervisors at grand-finale of the examination body's 5-day briefing across the state, vowed that the council would not tolerate any act of misconduct during the examination which commences from this Monday, 16th of May, 2022
The Branch Controller speaking with Edu-Biznews on the sideline of the Abeokuta centre for the briefing held at Reverend Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Isabo, Abeokuta said any of the principals caught in the act would be arrested and handed over to the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for appropriate disciplinary actions while erring supervisors would be blacklisted from the conduct of subsequent examinations
According to him, candidates of 16 derecognized schools would be allowed to write the examination under strict supervision of WAEC
He, however expressed the ethusiast of the principals and supervisors involved in the conduct of this year's WASSCE , to ensure the best examination ever conducted by WAEC in the state
The WAEC chief assured the supervisors of improved incentives, urging them to resist any attempt that would tarnish their image, saying they should see themselves as representatives of the council who must arrive promptly at all the centres of examination and ensure smooth conduct of the excercise
He also enjoined the principals to be alive to their responsibilities as chief security officers of their respective Schools, by being present to monitor the activities of supervisors
The Branch Controller cautioned them (principals) against giving money to any of the Inspectors from WAEC who is on routine Inspection to various schools during the conduct of the examination
He therefore called on the principals of both public and private secondary schools, supervisors and invigilators to work closely, so as to preserve the dignity of WAEC and ensure hitch free conduct of the examination in the state
