WAEC Bans 35 Schools In Rivers Over Malpractices

West African Examination Council WAEC has placed ban on thirty-five (35) 

secondary schools in Rivers State, South South Nigeria from presenting candidates for the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination, WASSCE over their involvement in examination malpractices 

The Deputy Registrar/Zonal Coordinator for Head of National office of the examination council  , S.D. KUM announced the ban in a signed letter  to

the State Ministry Education which had been forwarded to the  de-recognising the affected schools for the purpose of general public 

The ban followed the report by the examination body's  surveillance team on the performance of candidates in the WASSCE held in 2021 

He explained that the  affected schools following  the ban would not register candidates for the examination until further notice.

It was learnt that the schools before their banned, had acquired the status of  ” miracle Centres” where all manners of examination malpractices were allowed and where desperate candidates and their parents registered to acquire fraudulent results.

WAEC in the letter listed the schools to include: Christ Secondary School, Nonwa, Rootway Comprehensive College, PH, Millenium High School PH, Excel Comprehensive College, Bori, Sonny Memorial College, Diobu, Comprehensive High School, Khana.

Others are: Community Sec. Sch. Baen, Comm. Secondary School. Ngo-Uyeada, Baptist Vocational College, Ahoada, Comm. Sec. Sch. Ebubu Eleme, John Wesley College, Bori amongst others.
