Over 6,500 MSMEs Get Free CAC Certificates In Ogun



Over 6,500 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) operating in Ogun State have been issued with free Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Certificates as registered business enterprises in Nigeria 

Governor Dapo Abiodun during symbolic presentation of Certificates in Abeokuta, to the successful MSMEs who applied through the Formalisation Track of the MSMEs Survival Fund supported by the Ogun State Government in partnership with the Federal Government, expressed his administration's genuine commitment to providing economic support for operators of MSMEs in the state 

Abiodun represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi explained that the present administration's decided to key into the Federal Government's Survival Fund targeted at increasing productivity and output of micro enterprises, to demonstrate its interest in ensuring growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, especially the vulnerable ones 

The governor at the distribution of Certificates to beneficiaries drawn from the 20 Local Government Areas of the State, added that the State had embarked on the distribution of grants to artisans and business owners in recent times but found out that a lot of business owners could have benefitted but for lack of business registration saying “that is why we have put this together to facilitate your registration and create wealth for MSMEs especially those who cannot afford it”.

Abiodun assured small business owners and artisans that his administration would continue to leverage on various economic reforms to create identity and provide platforms for branding and packaging that would make MSMEs’ products more accessible and acceptable in the world market.

He called on the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity to educate and encourage other business owners around them to key into the policy towards engendering inclusive growth.

The State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe while speaking at the event, said the distribution of the free CAC certificates was significant to the agenda of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration


According to her, "the Formalisation Support Scheme is an initiative geared towards supporting vulnerable MSMEs to register their business name formally, reduce the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and safeguard jobs".

Longe assured that the over 6,500 certificates approved quota for Ogun State would be delivered to all the beneficiaries, saying the collection process continues until all selected entrepreneurs were attended to.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Remi Ogunmefun said the certificates would advance businesses of the beneficiaries and avail them of various benefits of business formalisation which includes business development support and access to low-rate loans.

Ogunmefun urged the beneficiaries to also register their business in the State’s MSMEs bank to enable them enjoy other benefits available to small businesses.

In her goodwill message, the Ogun State Coordinator, Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Mrs. Olukemi Famous-Cole said the Commission would ensure that the total approved quota for the State was produced.

Some beneficiaries, Mrs. Olayinka Shittu of Ade Cube Catering and Rental Services, as well as Mr. Ademola Aina of Adewale Crown Gas Enterprise lauded the Federal and State Governments for the free CAC certificates, calling for the programme to be extended to other entrepreneurs who were yet to benefit.

Other personalities at the event include, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Toyin Taiwo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola and his counterpart in Agriculture, Dr. Dotun Sorunke, President, Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye, among others.
