Medical Training:MDCN Okays Re-Acreditation Of Two State Hospitals In Ogun

Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), has okayed the re-accreditation of both the State Hospitals in Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State,  just as the council commended the  State Government for the provision of state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities and medical equipment in its State-owned hospitals.

Registrar of the Council, Dr. Tajudeen Sanusi, who led an inspection team from Abuja gave the commendation in Abeokuta, during the re-accreditation of the State hospitals in Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode, for housemanship programme.

Dr. Sanusi affirmed the level of development and qualitative medicare in the hospitals compared to the Council’s last visit, noting that it would reduce the hardship being faced by newly qualified doctors in getting placement for housemanship

“The Council has agreed that the State-owned facilities should complement the efforts of the Federal Government by having accredited centres, where the Federal Government would take responsibility of the cost of housemanship training, as well as encouraging medical Doctors to stay back after their training”, Sanusi said.

Speaking, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker said the State takes the re-accreditation exercise seriously, adding that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration had been proactive with huge investment in the health sector.

“I want to appreciate your response and visit as a team and we are looking forward to receiving our approval of the facilities as a Centre for the training of house officers’’, she said.
