Ogun Govt Earmarks N56Bn For Education In 2022 Fiscal Year



Ogun State Government has earmarked N56billion for the education sector, to enhance Infrastructural development and create conducive teaching and learning environment in public schools in the coming 2022 fiscal year       

Governor Dapo Abiodun who revealed this during the presentation of the        the 2022 Budget tagged, ‘Budget of Restoration’ before the State House of Assembly in Abeokuta, said the amount represents 16 percent of the total  budget size of N350.7billion 

Abiodun promised that the government would continue to create enabling environment for learners, by providing the required provisions that would make teaching and learning activities easier and more relevant.
  
He revealed that part of the programme of government for the year 2022 was to digitalised the education sector for optimal performance, hence, the plan to put in place free internet service for all public schools, which would help to integrate the use of technology into the school curriculum.

"Highlight of the 2022 budget is in line with our ISEYA pillars. Education, which includes early childhood, technical and vocational, as well as tertiary institutions is N56,71.21bn which is 16 percent of our proposed budget", he said.

 Abiodun pointed out that his administration has initiated policies and programmes that would address the downward trend of education in the State, noting that policies have been put in place to address all relevant stakeholders in the educational system, such as the students, teachers, schools’ administrators and parents, among others.

The governor, who highlighted some of the achievements in the sector to include, rehabilitation of over 956 schools, approval for the N200m as annual State education intervention fund which would address the infrastructure deficit in State owned tertiary institutions, approval for purchase of buses for the tertiary institutions, payment of bursaries for the indigene students, OgunTEACH intervention programme, among others.

Abiodun said that teachers have continued to enhance their efficiency and productivity through series of government sponsored seminars and workshops, promising that capacity building would be at the forefront of government policies for the new year
