Abiodun Offers OGITECH's Best Two Graduands Automatic Employment




Governor Dapo Abiodun has offered automatic employment to Messrs Lawal David and Emmanuel Ogunleye who emerged as  the two best overall graduating students with first-ever distinction grade of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the State

Abiodun who announced the  offer during the 4th convocation ceremony and conferment of the Institute’s fellowship award programme in Igbesa, pledged his government's commitment to educational development, through the provision of conducive environment, adequate facilities and funds for teaching and learning to thrive.

The governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu acknowledged the steady growth and development of the Institute, pointing out that it had evolved to define the State's renowned academic excellence, integrity and honour.

Abiodun applauded the school for being prudent with its internally generated revenue, promising that government would continue to support it for the greater growth of all stakeholders and promote excellence among students


 He encouraged the school Management to leverage on the presence of industries and organisations in the Institute’s immediate environment by coming up with robust initiative, targeted at producing products with the required skills to meet the human resources needs of the industries  in the industrial estate, particularly, the Ogun Guardoung Free Trade Zone.

"We are proud of the efforts of the school, especially in its various advanced technology programmes designed towards enhancing capacity building for the continued development of Ogun State. We expect that this Institute will leverage on the opportunities available to them, to come up with robust target to impact positively on their immediate environment", the governor charged.

Prince Abiodun applauded the new graduands for choosing to tow the path of integrity and excellence, charging them to see their achievement as the starting point for attaining greater heights in the nearest future and think of what they could do to become employers of labour.

 "I commend you all for making us proud and for towing the paths of excellence when others like you have gone astray, I personally acknowledge Mr. Lawal David, the best overall graduating student and Mr. Ogunleye Emmanuel for being outstanding despite being in the student union government. I encourage you to be creative, dependable, good ambassadors and contribute your quota to the growth of the State and country at large", he said.

 In her address, the Institute’s Rector, Engr. Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunke Akinkurolere, said that the programme and courses available in the school were designed to ensure that it would be relevant for industries and estates around them to provide employment opportunities for its graduates.

She stated that the school had been able to sustain its growth, through the accreditation of 30 academic programmes at the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels, skills acquisitions and entrepreneurship programmes.

In the convocation lecture titled, 'Next Generation Chief Executive Officers (CEOs'), the Guest Lecturer who is the President of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Engr. (Mrs.) Funmilola Ojelade, pointed out that there are many job opportunities for the new graduands as entrepreneurs, advising them to identify their areas of interest and develop on it.

Ojelade highlighted some of the criteria needed as a next generation CEO to include acquiring the ability to think of success in the entrepreneurship journey, set a goal to be the best they could be, contemplate often on their laid down goals and start from a small beginning as well as strive to achieve excellence.

Speaking on behalf of other graduands, Mr. Lawal David appreciated the Institute’s Management for imparting wealth of knowledge and research in them and encouraged his colleagues to work towards realizing their dreams and be committed to the upliftment of the State and country.
