Remo Sports Develpment Council has honoured a distinguished member of the Remo Growth and Development Foundation, Prof.Adewale Solarin, as its patron, as part of strategies to reposition sports in Remo axis of Ogun State
Chairman of the council, an ex-Olympiad, Chief(Mrs) Falilat Ogunkoya-Omotayo(MON) and General Secretary, Mr.David Osuolale led a delegation to Abeokuta on Tuesday, to formally present certificate as patron to the highly respected former Director General/ Chief Executive Officer of the National Mathematical Centre,Abuja
Solarin who appreciated the honour as patron, pledged to mobilize the needed support for the activities of the Remo Sports Council, by working closely with the council to discover talents and nurture athletes, particularly at the primary schools
The Head, Directorate of Education of Remo-GDF stressed that the foundation would continue to use sports and education, to give priority to development of every talented child who deserves such necessary sense of belonging in Remo-land
He explained that the foundation was committed to the first nine years of basic education of a gifted child and provide the needed community support by ensuring that young talents in sports and education are closely monitored, before proceeding to the three years of senior secondary education, where the foundation builds self confidence into such child, the stage of self reliansation and later in the higher Institution of learning, where such child would acquire leadership skills and later start giving back to the society (Remo-land)
The newly decorated patron who is the founder of IAGIFTED also assured that the foundation would work closely with the council in identifying talents in sports in various primary schools in the Remo axis, monitor their steady growth in sports and education
The delegation had earlier unfolded its developmental programmes including organizing competitions among primary schools and holding mini-sports festival within the zone
Osuolale who is the Divisional Sports Officer for Remo, further revealed that the division produced the bulk of athletes that represented Team-Ogun in the tracks and field events at the last National Sports Festival in Edo State, because of its robust developmental programmes at the grassroots
