Ogun Shooters Are Set For Better Outing At National Youth Game- Hon.Akinbitan




Chairman of the Ogun State Shooting Association, Hon.Akinola Akinremi Akinbitan has expressed confidence on the readiness of the shooters representng the state to better their previous outing at the forthcoming National Youth Games in Iloriin,the Kwara state capital

The association's boss gave the assurance while presenting the State's Shooting team who emerged third with two gold,one silver and three bronze at the recently concluded National Shooting Championship in Asaba, Delta State, to the State Director of Sports, Mrs Iyabode Rotimi at her office in the State Sports Council,Alake Sports Complex,Ijeja,Abeokuta

Akinbitan lauded the Coach Idris Oguntayo tutored team,saying they did well despite going to the championship without its full squad and losing narrowly to the Department of State Security Service,(DSS) who garnered three gold and host Delta State who won two gold and two silver 


"We are not too surprise with the performance of the team, because of the quality of the shooters ,we did not go to the tournament with our full team, we still performed well, having prepared well for the championship, we are looking forward as an association, to make Ogun State hub of shooting game in Nigeria. Ogun State has  huge potentials to produce shooters to represent the country at major international competitions and compete with the very best in the world",he sated

The highly elated chairman lauded the efforts of a physically challenged female shooter and Amos Odesanya who retained his number one position in pistol category, after  winning gold at the tournament

He showered praises on the State Government, especially the Director of Sports for the moral and financial support to the shooters, "we really commend the Sports Council for providing conducive environment for the shooters to excel"

"We expect a better outing at the coming National Youth Games, because the shooters are gradually hitting form"                          

Edubiznews recalled that Team--Ogun emerged overall best in the last game in 2019 with two gold and a bronze
