Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has asked Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties to resolve their internal crisis, before 16th of June when the screening excercise will be concluded
The State Chairman of PDP, Dr.Sikirulah Ogundele had last Thursday accused the electoral agency of meddling in the affairs of the party and playing the script of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to frustrate it,by giving nomination forms to a faction not recognized by the National Secretariat of the party, even after the presentation of all the necessary documents to guide the Commission
But Chairman of OGSIEC, Mr.Babatunde Osibodu in a statement made available to Edu-Biznews on Friday in Abeokuta, the state capital, announcing the deadline for political parties, said that the commission had cleared 18 political parties including PDP to contest the councils'poll on July 24 and have no control over the internal wrangling in any political party.
"We have no control or involvement over internal wrangling in any party as being isinuated in certain quarters. It is expected that parties with internal issues should endeavour to resolve them latest Wednesday 16th June,2021 when the screening excercise shall be concluded", he stated
Osibodu reiterated that OGSIEC would continue to be fair, impartial and transparent in the conduct of the councils poll in the state
The commission last Wednesday began the screening of the councillorship candidates contesting the poll.
