An emerging strong force in the Nigeria's secondary education system, Aminat International College, Abeokuta (AICA) is celebrating its Senior Secondary School Class -Three Heroine, Aishat Kareem,who led the Ogun State team to clinch 22nd National Junior Engineers Technicians and Scientists (JETS) competition
Aishat was in Senior Secondary School Class-Two in February ,2020 when she led the state team to win the prestigious National JETS competition organized by the Federal Ministry of Education in Lagos, for Secondary Schools in Nigeria
She was lauded by the school's management for placing Aminat International College Abeokuta on the world map.
The College located at a serene area of Gbonagun,Obantoko in Abeokuta, the state capital, is also celebrating its 20 years of academic excellence in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations conducted by both the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO)
The college according to its Principal, Alhaji Mikail Anifowose, 'has maintained consistently more than 95 percent Credit in five subjects and above through the years in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and NECO SSCE "
Anifowose who was speaking at the recently held 15th valedictory service for its graduating Senior and Junior Secondary School Students, added that AICA is still marching on, winning more laurels in competitions in the past 20 years including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Excellence Award as the most outstanding school in 2012, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta Centre For Advancement Linkages and Alumni Relation's as the most outstanding Secondary school in 2015, amongst others academic awards
For the highly elated principal, the college deserved to be celebrated starting from its humble beginning with just six students in 2001 to producing more 1,200 students who are now making impact on society and influencing the world for Islam.
Also celebrating the College, is the Pioneer Chairman of Board of Governors, Dr.Taofiq Salisu who commended the zeal of the founder, Late Alhaji (Chief) Surajudeen Adisa Yusuff popularly known as Moore, for establishing the school to produce morally sound students with Islamic biase .
For Salisu, who is also Pioneer Librarian of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Aminat International College Abeokuta, by all standard has made remarkable contribution to the development of secondary school education in the country from its modest students enrolment of nine in 2001 to 5,750 students enrolment level till date
The highly respected Educationist who was the guest speaker at the 15th valedictory service,is proud as one of the founding fathers that the College is leaving up to its vision of transforming to an enviable world class co-educational secondary school, where forthrightly future leaders are groomed and the mission of ensuring that each of the learners has opportunity to excel in challenging educational programme that resolves round the domains
