NNL: Seyi Okeowo 's Late Goal Revives Gateway Utd Promotion Campaign As Nilayo Suffer Defeat

Gateway United Football Club on Saturday revived their campaign for promotion, after defeating visiting Crown FC of Ogbomosho by a lone-goal in the ongoing  2020/21 Nigeria National League, NNL Season

Seyi Okeowo last minute strike from a free kick, ensure that  Gateway United recorded its first win of the season at home in the second tier league

The Akeem Busari tutored side had  lost their league opener at Agege Stadium in Lagos  last matchday against Joy Cometh FC.

From the blast of the whistle, Gateway Utd made their intent known as they created two chances inside the opening minutes with Aderemi Yusuf seeing his effort go agonisingly wide.

Both sides created few chances in the opening half of the match played at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta as Ogunleye Sulaimon was shown a yellow card for a foul in the centre circle after 27mins.

Aderemi Yusuf's 35th minute header off a corner kick goal mouth scramble was easily saved and Crown FC would breathe again

Gateway United resumed proceedings with the same intent as the first half when Adeoye Victor tried to connect his head to an inswinger off a corner kick.

Iwundu Chidozie header was also off target after a good ball was sent in from a freekick in the 77th minute

Okunbor Bamidele missed another clear cut chance in the 90th minute for the homeside, before a moment of magic from Seyi Okeowo in the 94th min when he sent in a direct freekick which in turn sent the technical bench into a frenzy.

Gateway United according to its Media Officer, Moses Officer, Moses Ojewumi, will be traveling to Warri in the midweek to face Julius Atete Fc in a match day-three of the season

Another Abeokuta based side, Nilayo FC were not so lucky on the road against homeside, Vandrezzer who won by the same margin at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos

Nilayo's Kabiru Popoola had failed from the penalty spot in the 12th minute, to cancel out Christopher Lolo's 5th goal for Vandrezzer from the penalty spot.
