Jangede Girls' School Abduction Will Be The Last- FG

The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that last Friday abduction of over 300 students at the Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe, Zamfara State would be the last in the country

Edu-Biznews recalled that the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) during the week, threatened to shutdown Schools in the country, if government fails to end the continous abduction of students and teachers by armed bandits.

Also Nobel Laurette, Professor Wole Soyinka on Saturday in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, asked schools in the country to embark on solidarity strike, if the unholy act continues.

Soyinka was speaking conduring the public presentation of his book titled "Chronicles Of The Happiest People On Earth" and public lecture on "National Survival"organized by the state chapter of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA).

But the Minister of Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika on Sunday  assured of government's readiness to end such abduction, when he led a Federal Government’s high powered delegation to condole with state government  over the abduction of the schoolgirls by bandits

He added that “strict measures would be taken by government to avert the recurrence of such event.”

Sirika speaking on behalf of President Muhammedu Buhari, said that the Federal Government was deeply concerned with the abduction at the GSSS Jangebe.

According to him, “The President is deeply concerned and worried about the abduction of students in Zamfara State and other states where such incidents occurred”.

“The President is assuring all Nigerians that the issue of banditry and other forms of insecurity challenges will soon come to an end”, the minister stated

He expressed disgust over the banditry activities, assuring Nigerians that the menace would soon come to an end.

“The Federal Government has the capability to get rid of banditry and will do so without further delay”.

Responding, Governor Bello Matawalle who expressed confidence that the students would soon be released,  thanked the Federal Government for the concern

He however identified lack of cooperation among security agencies as major factor responsible for the inability to get rid of banditry, calling on the security agents to work as a team, to ensure the success  in the fight against banditry.

Matawalle explained that his administration was working with repentant bandits, to facilitate the safe rescue of the schoolgirls.

“We are using the leaders of the repentant bandits to rescue the schoolgirls from the kidnappers. Very soon, we are going to witness the release of the abductees,” NAN quoted him to have said.

Edu-Biznews recalled that bandits last Saturday released to the Niger State Government, the abducted 27 Students of Government Science Secondary School, Kangara, along with their teachers and relatives
