NPFL Wk 13: Kwara Utd Beat Wolves 2-0,Regain Lead



Kwara United of Ilorin have regained their lead on the table of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), after compounding Warri Wolves' woes 2-0, in a week 13 match on Sunday.

Steven and Ohanu  gave the Afonja Warriors the needed goals in the 8th and 57th minutes for the maximum three points at home, to move to the top spot with 25 points, while Wolves language in the 19th position with just 12points.

Enugu Rangers are now in 2nd position with 23 points, after defeating visiting Heartland of Owerri two/nil in an Oriental derby played at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu.

Kano Pillars with 23points dropped from the top position to third place, after Ekong's hat-trick in the 38th,48th and penalty in the 76th minute, secured Dakkada FC  a hard-earned 3-2 win against against the Pillars in Uyo 

Old war-horse, Rabiu Ali's brace  in the 10th minute through penalty and another in the 30th minute had given the visitors early lead before succumbing to the homeside in the remaining part of the tension soaked five goals thriller .

Another Uyo based side, Akwa United humiliated Rivers United of Port-harcourt by 3-0, sinking the Pride of Rivers further to 8th position with 18points with two outstanding matches to be played.

Enyimba International of Aba with 23 points further dropped to the 4th position with two outstanding matches yet to be played.

The Peoples Elephants and their host,Jigawa Golden Stars ended their encounter in a goaless draw, the matches which involved Sunshine Stars of Akure and bottom placed, Adamawa United as well as the defending Champions, Plateau United and FC Ifeanyi Ubah ended in the same score-line .

 Lobi Stars narrowly defeated visiting Katsina United by two/one while Abia Warriors with 16 points moved out of the relegation water to the 12th position, having recorded a lone-goal win against the visiting Wikki Tourists of Bauchi on Saturday.
