NNL Season: Gateway Utd. Players, Officials Undergo COVID-19 Test



Players and technical officials of the Ogun State owned Gateway United FC of Abeokuta have undergone Covid-19 test as part of the  requirements for the commencement of the 2020/2021 Nigeria National League(NNL) season.

The test was carried out on Monday 25th January,  at the club secretariat, MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta ahead of the first match against Joy Cometh which has now been moved to Friday 29th January, 2021 in Lagos 

The results of the test according to a statement by the club's media officer,Moses Ojewumi, are expected  this  Tuesday 26th January, 2021.

 Acting General Manager of the club,Niyi Soleye in the statement, described it as a pivotal test for the smooth running of the fast approaching league.

"It went well, all players and officials have been tested. We expect the result tomorrow Tuesday. We will continue our preparation in line with the Covid-19 protocols".

"We appreciate the state government for this timely test. NNL made it compulsory and we have ensured every player and officials were tested. We believe that every other team will follow suit so that the atmosphere will be safe for us all to have a hitch free season." He concluded.

Also the Team Manager, Dare Osunsanya said the change in date is immaterial to the readiness of the team to hit the ground running.

Joy Cometh will host Gateway United in match day one at Agege Stadium, Lagos on Friday 29th January, 2021.
