Two of the four stadia In Ogun State, the Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode and MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto Abeokuta, the state capital, are to be given a major face-lift , to reposition and develop young talents in sports.
The State Government is planning to renovate, as well as build new sporting facilities in the two stadia.
The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr.Oluwadare Kehinde unfolded the plan while being conducted round the facilities at the two stadia by the Management Staff of Aron Construction Company.
The Commissioner during the recent on the spot assessment of the two facilities, expressed optimism that the reconstruction would boost sports in the State and attract international sporting events.
He explained that the renovation would involve reconstruction of training pitches for footballers, Olympic Standard Swimming pools, Multi-purpose halls for indoor events and coverage of the main bowl of the two Stadia.
Kehinde noted that this would also increase youth participation in sporting activities, as well as reduce social vices.
The Managing Director, Aron Construction Company, Engr. Adeola Adenuga appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his foresight and immense passion for sporting activities in the State.
