Ogun Govt. Votes N220million For Traffic Light In 2021



Ogun State Government has proposed N220million for the installation of solar traffic and street light at both  NNPC and Kuto junctions in Abeokuta and four other major junctions across the state, to ease congestion and ensure safety of human and vehicular movement  in the coming fiscal year.

The State Transport Commissioner, Engr.Gbenga Dairo unfolded the plan in Abeokuta, during the recently concluded defence of the 2021 budget estimates by the Ministries, Departments and Agencies,(MDAS) of government before the State House of Assembly.

Dairo listed other junctions for the traffic and street light, to include Oyingbo junction in Ijebu-Ode and Ita-Oba junction in Sagamu as well as Oju-Ore junction and Sango-Ota under bridge both in Ota axis . 

He added that another N200million would be spent on provision of road signs and furniture, to ease vehicular movement along Kuto/NNP route, linking the Governor's office at Oke-mosan in Abeokuta as well as in other major towns in the state.

The commissioner also hinted that provision of N25million had been made for preparation of feasibility study of the inherited Gateway Airport project sited in Iperu/Isara in Remo axis of the state to boost transportation of agricultural products both within and outside Nigeria.

The project according to him ,"is expected enhance both  passenger and cargo traffic distribution to the rest of the country"
