NPFL 2020/21 Kicks-Off As Enyimba, Abia Warriors Clash In A Derby



Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2020/2021 season finally kicks-off this Sunday, after suffering several postponements  in the country.

Edu-Biznews recalled that the organizers of NPFL, League Management Company had before this Sunday date, earlier fixed last December 6 for take off of the league but later postponed it at the last minute, citing non-readiness of the participating clubs as one of its major reasons.  

The league eventually takes off, following the marching order by the Minister Of Sports , Sunday Dare to the organizers, to ensure the start of season in the elite division ,since the women version of the league is already on ,in compliance with COVID-19 pandemic protocols in the country .

The matches for the day one of the top flight league include two local derbies involving CAF Champions League Campaigners,Enyimba International of Aba and Abia Warriors at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba while it will be a battle of supremacy in another local derby at the Next of Champion Stadium in Uyo between Akwa United and Dakada Football Club.

Top match of the day one of the season will be in Port-harcourt as the pride of the Rivers, Rivers United who want to extend their good run in the CAF Confederation Cup against former league Champions, Rangers International of Enugu .

FC Ifeanyi Ubah of Nnewi will be at home against Lobi Stars of Makurdi ,while MFM of Lagos will entertain visiting Warri Wolves at the Agege Township Stadium.

At the  Yola Stadium, Adamawa  United will be host to Kano Pillars who crashed out of this year's CAF Confederation Cup while Katsina United will be playing at home against Heartland of Owerrie .

The Coach Abdu Maikaba tutored Pleateau  United side  will want to redeem their image at home in Jos against Kwara United, after their disappointing early exit  in the CAF Champions League to a Tazanian side.

In Lafia, Nasarawa United will try the visiting Wikki Tourists of Bauchi for size while Jigawa Golden Stars will host Sunshine Stars of Akure in Dutse in another thrilling encounter in the Nigeria's elite football league
