2021 Budget:Gov.Abiodun Meets Ogun West Obas Over Road Construction





Governor Dapo Abiodun has met with traditional rulers in Ogun west as part of his administration strategic moves, to engage stakeholders in the preparation of the state's 2021 budget .

The Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewa, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle who  led the traditional rulers, hosted the governor at his Palace in Ilaro.

 Abiodun had during the earlier virtual Consultative meeting on the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), and 2021 Budget at the Executive Chambers of the Governor's office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, promised to collate inputs from  traditional leaders and other stakeholders for various capital projects in the budget proposal.

The governor who was represented by his Deputy Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the meeting was aimed at getting factual statistics and the expectations of the people of Ogun west, in the area of infrastructural development, particularly roads.

He explained that in doing this, the State government would also be looking into the peculiarities of each area in the provision of these roads, to ensure that what is provided suited the various vehicular traffic demands placed on them.

“ What we have done is to consider the different specifications of roads for different areas, we are looking at the construction of concrete roads where necessary because of the heavy industrial vehicles that ply such axis, so that in areas we know we are going to have heavy vehicles the road design suits such demands”, he said.

He informed that with the submission of report by the committee on the review of projects, government had been able to identify grey areas and to enable contractors return to site on the roads, insisting that work would resume on them to enable its citizenry reap the benefits of government and have improved lifestyle.

 Traditional rulers, Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba Kehinde Olugbenle while responding on behalf of the traditional rulers, appreciated  the governor for being responsive, this he said showed he was indeed royalty and cared about the welfare of the people.

He indicated that it is the first time since he ascended the throne that a town hall meeting of that nature would hold and a sitting Governor immediately swings into action to get a firsthand feel of where the shoe pinches. 

The  governor had earlier mandated the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure and his Transport counterpart to deliberate with the people of Ogun West and look at the list of roads that had been presented for the axis.

He noted that whatever list that comes out of the meeting would be considered as a priority for the people of the Senatorial district.
