OPIC Probe: Ogun Assembly Again Summons Former MD

Former Managing Director of the Ogun State Property And Investment Corporation (OPIC),Jide Odusolu has been summoned again by the  State House of Assembly to reappear before it on November 9.

The house expressed its displeasure over the presentation of Odusolu during his appearance last Tuesday before the Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-corruption on the 25 infractions observed in the Audited Report against his tenure as Managing Director of OPIC.

Speaker of the house, Right Honourable Olakunle Oluomo during plenary on Thursday in Abeokuta, asked Odusolu to re-appear before the House for further engagements on Monday, 9th November, 2020.

The Speaker enjoined him to come along with all necessary documents relating to all transactions on investments, housing projects and other fixed assets.

The house also passed a resolution, asking Governor Dapo Abiodun to urgently convey a security and peace summit which include stakeholders to curb incessant killings of innocent people in the border towns.

The lawmakers had condemned excesses of some security agencies in the border communities in the state, particularly by opertives of Nigeria Customs Service under the guise of checkmating Smugglers.

The lawmakers revealed that it was worrisome to note that the customs men often seized farm produces like maize and tomatoes in the guise of arresting contraband goods.

It would be recalled that the lawmakers at the previous plenary condemned the incessant attacks and extra judicial killings of law abiding citizens by the men and officers of customs with a call on the State Government to immediately convey a stakeholders' meeting on security, especially to address the rising cases of overzealousness on the part of the officers and men of the Nigeria customs in border areas of the State.
