Ogun Assembly Confirms Arigbabu, Odusile As Education, Information Commissioners





Ogun State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of the Tai Solarin University of Educationt(TASUED) Ijagun-Ijebu-Ode, Professor Abayomi Adelaja Arigbabu as Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology admidst his alleged indictment by the Audited Report from the State Auditor General's office.

The house also confirmed Nigerian Union of Journalists ( NUJ) former president,Alhaji Waheed Odusile's appointment as Information And Strategy Commissioner.

Arigbabu though found eligible for the position,is expected to clear himself of some alleged financial dealings of the institution along side, the bursa of the university,before the House Public Account And Anti-Corruption Committee investigating TASUED Audited Report .

 The two additional Commissioner-nominees, Waheed Odusile and Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu whose names were transmitted to the house by the Governor Dapo Abiodun for approval,were subsequently screened earlier in the week by the State lawmakers.

Their confirmation, followed the presentation of the  report of the House Selection Committee on the screening of the Commissioner nominees by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, who thereafter moved for its adoption and seconded by Hon. Slyvester Abiodun 





The confirmation was supported by the Whole House through a voice note during plenary on Thursday in Abeokuta.

The Committee in its screening report, recommended the two nominees for position of commissioner ,"having found them eligible and suitable in consonance with the provision of Sections 192 sub-section (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)”.

However , the report made it clear that." If the Public Accounts Committee finds anyone guilty of any misdemeanor, such a person, no matter the post occupied in the State, will be invited to undergo the necessary legislative scrutiny and penalty"
