Odun Omo-Olowu: Ogun Former Lawmaker Installed As Oganla of Owu-Abeokuta,Tasks Gov.Abiodun To Invest In Infrastructure To Boast Tourism, Create Jobs





 


 An Industrialist and former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Honourable Johnson Olu-Fatoki has been installed as the Oganla Owu-Abeokuta Kingdom by the Olowu, Oba(Dr.) Olusanya Adegboyega Dosunmu, as part of activities marking the Odun Omo-Olowu Day 2020 .

Fatoki in a chat with Edu-Biznews shortly after his installation at the Olowu 's palace in Oke Ago-Owu, Abeokuta on Thursday, described the Chieftancy title as a call to do more for his Community, particularly the Owu kingdom.

The new Oganla of Owu-Abeokuta, expressed concern over the slow-pace of projects implementation by the Dapo Abiodun's administration and asked the government to do more in provision of infrastructure, including roads, independent power plant, water and other basic amenities to harness the rich cultural heritage and tourism potential of the people of the state.

 Investing in infrastructural development according to him, "will create more jobs for the people and reduce rural-urban migration"

The former lawmaker from Ifo Local Government, also enjoined State Government to urgently address the demands of organized labour which includes payment of national minimum wage and clearance of deductions from workers salaries and settlement of Gratuities to Pensioners, to ensure Industrial harmony in the state

He explained that" the annual cultural festival"Odun Omo-Olowu Day" is a rally point for people of Owu to chart a way forward for the development of the Owu-Abeokuta Kingdom."

The new Chief added that every individual should strive to ensure development of their respective Communities.

The former lawmaker from Ifo Local Government promised to use his Chieftancy title to protect the rich cultural heritage of the Owus and ensure harmony among people of Owu-Abeokuta Kingdom .

Oba Dosunmu also installed Sani Lukemon Akorede Kolatan  as the Agba-Akin of Owu-Abeokuta Kingdom and Akinkunmi Alamu Kolatan as the Baale(Community Head) of Ijako-Awaye ,an Owu Community in Ewekoro Local Government Area.

Former president of Nigeria and Balogun of Owu-Abeokuta Kingdom,Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Owu Obas and prominent chiefs were dignitaries that witnessed the colourful cultural ceremony at the Olowu's palace.





The cultural festival according to organizers, continues on Friday with Jumat Service at Owu Central Mosque while grand-finale comes up on Saturday, October 10, at the Olowu's palace where there will be fund raising for Owu development and Ella-Isu ,(the traditional cutting of new yam by the Olowu) to commence eating of yams by the Owu sons and daughters.

There will be thanks giving on Sunday, October 11 and Orun Agogun at Agogun Oke compound on Wednesday next week, October 14.

The 21st edition of the Odun Omo-Olowu Day started last Monday October 5 with Woro(roads show), free Medical outreach at the Olowu's palace.

There were visitations on Tuesday to towns and compounds which included Apomu,Erunmu,Olusomi and Amororo as well as another visitations on Wednesday to Owu Obas in Ewekoro,Ifo and Ibogun Communities in Ogun State.
