‌ #EndSARS: Akeredolu, Makinde Order Closure of Schools In Ondo, Oyo States

Gov. Makinde of Oyo and Akeredolu of Ondo

More states, Ondo and Oyo have joined Lagos State to order closure of schools, as a result of the tension generated by the ongoing nationwide #EndSARS protest.

The Lagos State Government had earlier ordered the shutdown of all schools on Monday because of the EndSARS protesters, to ensure safety of pupils in the state.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu issued the directive on Tuesday in Akure, the Ondo state capital, 24hours after he had directed the re-opening of all schools in the state shutdown, to prevent spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Akeredolu in a the statement by the State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr Femi Agagu, said the directive was given for the sake of the safety of the students and the pupils.

The statement read in part, “Mr Governor has directed that all schools that resumed on Monday 19th October 2020 are closed for the meantime from tomorrow 21st October 2020 because of the engulfing nationwide protest and the need to ensure safety of our students and staff."

The governor  asked parents and the public as well as all schools to comply with the directive.

“Any inconvenience is regretted, while the State Government would ensure the resumption of our schools as soon as possible"he added.

Also Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State , announced the shutdown of all schools, following the killing of four people  on Tuesday during a clash between suspected hoodlums and police in Ojoo area, Ibadan, the State capital.

Two police stations were also burnt in Moniya, Ojoo area of the state capital.
