#EndSARS:Lagos Govt. Again Orders Closure of Schools

.   Gov.Babajide Sanwo-Olu

T he Lagos State Government has again ordered closure of schools, directing all pupils/students in public and private schools to stay at home following the tension generated by the ongoing nationwide #EndSARS protests.

The schools after their closure in the late March, were re-opened by the State Government last September 14, following the reduction in the rate of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Edu-Biznews recalled that the National Examination Council ( NECO) was also forced to reschedule its "Paper 1 Computer Studies Practical" earlier fixed for last Monday to November 16, in the ongoing Senior Secondary School Examination, because of the distribution in the movement caused by the EndSARS protesters across Nigeria.

The State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, who issued the directive on Monday in a statement by the Ministry's Head of Public Affairs, Kayode Abayomi, was quoted as saying" the safety of the pupils/students, parents and all staff working in schools is paramount at this critical period."

Adefisayo  urged schools to utilize other means of distance teaching and learning such as radio, television and online media as they have been doing during and post the recent COVID-19 lockdown.

She however advised parents to keep an eye on their wards and not allow them to be used as willing tools in the hands of those who might want to hijack the protests to unleash mayhem on the society.

A new date of resumption for all classes according to the Commissioner, "will be announced as soon as possible."
