Secondary School Learners in Ogun State have been charged to shun all forms of social vices that could truncate the bright future ahead of them in life, but should rather face their studies with all seriousness in order to achieve their set aspirations accordingly.
Permanent Secretary in Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko gave the charge while addressing learners of De-Dame's College in Abeokuta, during the monitoring of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)
She said learners who aspire greatness in life, should set achievable goals for themselves, engage in adequate preparation and be very hard working.
Oloko, told the learners that a moral lifestyle combined with due adherence to teachers' instructions would help them become good ambassadors of the Nation, warning them to avoid peer pressure that could lure them into doing anything that may lead to future regrets.
"I want to advise you to copy a lifestyle that can influence your future positively, if you see something, please say something, be confident and have a good self-esteem," Oloko said.
The Permanent Secretary reiterated that the introduction of technology into the conduct of examinations and in carrying out the activities of the Ministry had made things easier and more efficient, urging the 2026 BECE candidates to shun any form of examination malpractice and do everything possible for utmost performance.
In their submission, the Principals of Abeokuta Grammar School (Junior) and De-Dame's College, Mr. Adesina Faleti and Mr. Adedamola Yusuf, respectively, commended the Ministry for adequate and timely supply of examination materials.
Appreciating the Ministry for the visit, Olayemi Olutola of De-Dame's College, said the charge by the Permanent Secretary would go a long way in shaping their lifestyles and behaviour towards achieving developmental goals.
