Ogun Govt Dissowns ₦20,000 Youth Empowerment Cash Transfer, Says It Is A Fake Message

Ogun State Government has described as  fraudulent, the message circulating on social media claiming that Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun is offering a ₦20,000 Youth Empowerment Cash Transfer through an online link.

The government in a statement by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, stated unequivocally that the message is false, fraudulent and the handiwork of unscrupulous elements seeking to swindle unsuspecting members of the public using the name and image of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

"There is no such ₦20,000 cash transfer initiative, and the link being circulated has no connection whatsoever with the Ogun State Government or the Office of the Governor."

"Members of the public are strongly advised not to click on the link, submit their personal or banking details, or share the message with others, as doing so could expose them to fraud and identity theft".

The Ogun State Government in the statement, urged residents to disregard the fake message in its entirety and rely only on information released through the official communication channels of the government.

Security agencies according to the government, "have been notified to investigate those behind this criminal impersonation and bring them to justice"
