Ogun State chapter of Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association NATA has faulted the verdict of the State Magistrate Court sitting in Abeokuta, insisting Abiodun Akintunde, Bilewunmi Oluwafemi and Muyideen Adeboye are not members of the association and must not be recognized as State Executive Committee
The State Chairman of NATA, Comrade Adeleke Balogun, the State Secretary, Comrade Gideon Olusegun Oso , the immediate past State Chairman, Comrade Olawale Obadeyi and a member of South-West Zone Trustees, Chief Kehinde Akanni stated this in their separate reactions to the June 29, 2026 judgement of the Ogun State Magistrate Court in Abeokuta which affirmed Abiodun Akintunde, Bilewunmi Oluwafemi and Muyideen Adeboye as members of the association
But the State Chairman of NATA Comrade Adeleke Balogun during a press conference on Friday held at the State Secretariat of the association at Kobape near Abeokuta, accused Akintunde and two others of running the affairs of Premier-Ayetoro Road unit within Abeokuta North Local Government, not known to the association
Balogun whose second term tenure will end in August, 2028, accused Akintunde and his followers of moving around with fake certificates allegedly issued by an expelled Administrative State Secretary, James Ajetumobi which they presented to the court and were freed of the allegation of impersonation
According to him, Akintunde and his followers lost out in the legal battle for the control of NATA when the Federal High Court in Abeokuta dismissed their case against the association during the first term in office between 2020 and 2024
The State Secretary of NATA, Comrade Gideon Olusegun Oso also affirmed Balogun as State Chairman, saying Akintunde was never elected as officer of any unit recognized by the association and can not claim to be State Chairman without previous experiences as elected executives at unit and local government levels
He traced the leadership crisis to the 2010 National Convention of NATA held in Enugu when Ajao Faremi the late father of Akintunde who was loyal to one Obisesan and Odewale who failed to win the election members of the National Executive Council and they started creating crisis and running Secretariat not recognized by the National Secretariat in Abuja
He maintained that NATA in Ogun State is still one and united chapter under the leadership of Comrade Adeleke Balogun since 2020 till date until in August, 2028 when his two terms in office will be completed
Similarly the immediate past State Chairman, Comrade Olawale Obadeyi added that during his tenure between 2010 and 2018, Ajao Faremi, the late father to Abiodun Akintunde, was elected as Abeokuta North Local Government Chairman of NATA and was never elected as State Chairman or member of the executives at the State level as claimed by his son
Also the NATA Abeokuta North Chairman, Comrade Lukemon Adenekan added that Premier/Ayetoro Road unit where Abiodun Akintunde was elected as Chairman, is not one of the recognized nine units under his control and therefore those in the unit are on their own and should not be seen as members of the association in the state
Earlier, the South West Trustees member of NATA , Chief Kehinde Akanni maintained that there was no division in the association, blaming the late Ajao Faremi and his son, Abiodun Akintunde of causing the crisis in the state
He insisted that the South West Zone and National Secretariat of NATA only recognized Comrade Adeleke Balogun as the Ogun State Chairman of NATA as affirmed by the judgement of the Federal High Court in Abeokuta
