Ogun State Government has taken delivery of a fleet of ten brand new ambulances as part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the health sector and operations of the State Ambulance and Emergency Services (OGSAES)
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker who disclosed this, said the initiative was at the instance of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, aimed, to bolster the health sector by augmenting the existing fleet of 26 ambulances already stationed in all 20 local government areas of the State.
Expressing her gratitude toward the Governor, Dr. Coker, enthusiastically remarked that this development would ensure that each local government had at least two ambulances available to respond to emergencies.
The Director of Ogun State Ambulance and Emergency Services (OGSAES), Dr. Hassan Adelakun, commended the Ogun State Governor for prioritising the health and well-being of the State's residents, revealing that all the 26 ambulances across the 20 Local government areas remained operational, a significant improvement from six years ago, when only six ambulances were functioning in just four Local government areas
"Prior to the arrival of these ten additional brand new ambulances, the service had ambulances in all Local government areas and operated 24 hours in 12 of them. However, with the inclusion of these new ambulances, 24-hour operations will be extended to all local government areas", Dr. Adelakun added.
He also mentioned that OGSAES had over 200 staff that included; Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics and Drivers, while revealing that the department successfully rescued 1,091 victims last year. He therefore encouraged residents of Ogun state to feel free to contact their emergency line at 08112000033.
