Ogun Assembly Screens OGSIEC Nominees , Wants Improvement In Conduct Of Future LG Poll



Ogun State House of Assembly has screened nominees of Governor Dapo Abiodun for appointment into the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), charging them to deliver more credible future elections at the the Local Government level.

The nominees screened included Mr. Babatunde Adetona Osibodu, Mr. Tunji Akoni, Mr. Ayodele Bankole, Mrs. Gbemisola Onasanya and Mrs. Oluwaremilekun Olaopa.

Speaker of the house, Right Honourable Oludaisi Elemide who presided over the screening on Wednesday, at the Assembly Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, alongside other lawmakers, commended the nominees for their impressive track records; noting that the quality of their previous service in the Commission was well acknowledged.

The Speaker urged them to improve on their past performance and address observed shortcomings in previous electoral exercises to ensure a more transparency and credible local government election.

According to him, the nominees needed to draw on the lessons learnt from previous elections conducted and strive for electoral reforms that would ensure rancour free elections in the State.

Responding on behalf of the nominees, the Chairman-designate, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, a lawyer and a native of Ilisan Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area, appreciated the Assembly for the confidence reposed in them and assured that the Commission would build on its past achievements and deliver improved electoral outcomes.
