General Manager of Ogun State Television, Mr.Babatunde Kazeem, alongside three other individuals, Comrade Olanrewaju Jaji, Hon.Suleiman Ajibola and Hon. Kayode Oguntayo have been honoured with awards of excellence by the Ogun State Council of Nigeria Labour Congress in recognition of their contributions to the growth of labour movement in the state
The awardees were honoured on Friday during the 2026 "On The Wheel Award ceremony in Abeokuta, organized by the State NLC , as part of activities marking the commencement of this year's May Day celebration
The General Manager of OGTV represented by Assistant General Manager (News and Current Affairs), Biodun Alabi , received *Outstanding Public Service Award* for the immeasurable media support given to the activities of the union
Other recipients, Comrade Olanrewaju Jaji accompanied by wife was conferred with*Distinguished Solidarity Award* for his commitment to promotion of rights of workers, particularly in the media, Hon. Suleiman Ajibola received*Distinguished Labour Support Award* while Hon.Kayode Oguntayo represented by Comrade Ayuba Olatunji was honoured with*Distinguished Solidarity Award*, in appreciation of their respective various selfless services to the labour movement and its activities
The State NLC Chairman, Comrade Hameed Benco-Ademola during the conferment of the awards to the recipients, congratulated the awardees for their impactful contributions to the lives of people and to the growth of the society, saying they are shining examples worthy of recognition and emulation
He described NLC as a formidable and legally recognized organization committed to organizing workers across all spheres of life with over sixty-five (65) affiliated unions
"This achievement is a testament to the unity, resilience and shared vision of our members '
"Let me emphasize that the NLC does not commercialize its awards . Rather, we recognize and appreciate individuals who have added value to the growth and development of the Congress. Such contributions may come in the form of project donations, funding of ongoing initiatives, or financial support aimed at strengthening our collective capacity to advance the welfare of workers and society at large".
Benco-Ademola who listed some of the ongoing projects to include outdoor toilet facility, 18 room shops and NLC mosque, solicited for the support of willing awardees in the areas of CCTV Camera installation, more prestige banquet chairs, office table, as well as laptops and chairs
He encourage the awardees to continue to be shining lights in their various fields of endeavour .
"May your good works continue to inspire others to contribute meaningfully to the progress of our society and the labour movement", he prayed
One of the awardees, Olanrewaju Jaji, a social commentator who renamed his public forum from*Peoples Parliamentary* to "Workers Parliament *, appreciated the Benco-Ademola led State council of NLC for the recognition given to the recipients of the awards, sayings it will encourage them to do more for the Labour movement, particularly protecting the interest of workers at all time in Ogun State and the country at large
The State Chairman of NLC is doing well, we've seen a number of ongoing projects initiated by his executive community and other proposed projects , it shows he is providing leadership, members are feeling the impact of the projects being done
Another awardee, Hon. Suleiman Ajibola expressed excitement over the award, describing it as a value addition to his business and future political ambition
He prayed for the entire leadership of NLC , saying forward ever and backward never
Earlier on Friday, the State NLC Chairman led other top members of the union to observe special Jummah prayers, as part activities for the 2026 workers day celebration at Abeokuta Central Mosque in kobiti, where the Chief Imam of Egbaland Alhaji Sa'adallah Alade Bamgbola led prayer session
Prayers were offered for the leadership of NLC and success of the entire activities of this year's May Day celebration.
They prayed Allah to continue enrich the wisdom of the leaders of the union in their continuously struggle for the protection of workers' welfare in the state
