Governor Abiodun stated this during
at the formal opening and swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 NYSC Batch A, Stream II Orientation Course, at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu.
Abiodun represented by the State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, reiterated that the NYSC remained a powerful platform for building bridges across cultural divides, fostering patriotism and nurturing leadership among young people, saying the orientation course was the beginning of a transformative journey that would test their character, expand their world view, so as to be able to contribute meaningfully to the society.
He noted that his administration was fully committed to the Building Our Future Together agenda, with youth development as a central pillar of that philosophy, maintaining that the prosperity and stability of the State depended largely on how well the capacity and potentials of the youth were developed.
He submitted that several forward-looking initiatives had deepened the State's commitment to youth empowerment, with the Ogun State Job Portal, which had continued to connect thousands of young people to meaningful employment opportunities across key sectors, saying the support for MSMEs had enabled many young entrepreneurs start and upscale their businesses.
"In line with global trends, we have further strengthened our digital economy drive. Through the Ogun TechHub initiative and other digital capacity-building programmes, more youths were being equipped with in-demand skills such as software development, artificial intelligence, data analytics, cyber security and digital content creation. Many of these beneficiaries are now productively engaged in remote work, freelancing and tech-driven enterprises, earning competitively on the global stage,’’the Governor said.
He stated further that the initiatives were deliberate steps towards building a resilient, inclusive and youth-driven economy, urging the Corps Members to take advantage of the several opportunities available in the State.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Olayinka Nasamu, appreciated the State Government for its unwavering commitment and support to the scheme, noted that the orientation course had been carefully designed to instill the values of discipline, patriotism, leadership and selfless service.
She stated further that the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme would equip them with relevant vocational skills for self-reliance and position them to become future employers of labour.
A total of 3, 045 Corps Members were registered, comprising 1, 130 males and 1, 915 females
