TESCOM Moves To Enhance Learners' Performance In Ogun Public Secondary Schools

Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) says it would continue to priotise quality teaching to enable learners in Public Secondary Schools across the State perform excellently in various examinations.

Chairman of TESCOM, Apostle 'Biodun Sanyaolu stated  during a meeting between TESCOM officials and some Principals of public secondary schools in the State to address allegations made against their schools by the West African Examination Council (WAEC), at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.

The State according to Sanyaolu, is known for academic excellence, noting that school administrators should be proactive, set performance indicator and prepare their work plan, for effective school administration.

 The TESCOM boss stated that, it was imperative for school administrators and other stakeholders to brace up and prevent any form of examination misconduct that could tarnish the image of their schools and the State as whole.

 ‘’ Your job as school administrators should be well guided. You have to be in control of everything in the school, supervise and ensure that things are done properly,’’ he said.   

  Also speaking, the Full-Time Commissioner iv in the Commission, Hon. Ademola Adeleye, implored Principals to take cognizance of the school environment they are working and abide by the ethics of the teaching profession, warning them not to indulge in any unlawful act.

Earlier, Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Mr. Akintomiwa Osibodu, said Ogun had set pace in the education sector, charging the Principals to sustain the tempo.          

 Contributing, the Principals-General for Egba, Remo and Yewa Divisions, Mr. Babatunde Ige, Mr. Adeyinka Osilesi and Mr. Taoreed Bankole respectively, expressed displeasure over the conducts of some of the school administrators in public secondary schools, charging them to ensure proper monitoring of their staffers.

 On her part, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, represented by the Director of Education, Department of Public Schools, Mrs. Olubunmi Oso, said the Ministry had been working to improve teaching and learning environment with the aid of Information and Communication Technology, urging WAEC to address some inadequacies in the course of conducting its examinations.

Responding on behalf of other school administrators, the Principal Abusi Edumare Academy, Ijebu Igbo, Mr. Taiwo Fagbemi and Principal, Asero High School, Senior, Mrs. Femi Sopade, assured the Commission of their cooperation for the advancement of the State education that all stakeholders in the education sector should intensify efforts at ensuring that learners perform credibly well in their studies and examinations.
