Muslim Clerics, Abeokuta North Council's Chairman Charge Parents To Prioritize Education, Moral Upbringing Of Children

 


Muslim Clerics including Chief Imam of Zone two, Lagos of Nigeria Police Force, Chief Superintendent of Police Raji Mohammed and Al-Haafidh Adelodun Habeebuloh have stressed the need for parents and rich individuals in the communities to prioritize the education and moral upbringing of their children as part of practical moves to combat corruption in the society and reduce crime rate in the country 

Also the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon.Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo during the 2026 Ramadan Lecture/Iftar organized by the local council's Muslim community held on Tuesday at the Oba Odeleye Park, Ori-Omi, Totoro in Abeokuta, charged parents to be more committed to the education and proper raising of their children, so as to stem the tide of rising cases of crime and ensure a descent society 

The Chief Imam of Zone two Lagos of the Nigeria Police Force who was speaking on the theme of Ramadan lecture, "Combating Corruption And Injustice: Islamic Antidotes", expressed concern over the level of corruption in the country, admonishing every Muslim to begin to imbibe the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) and companion) as a practical way of tackling the disturbing trend of corruption in the country 


He blamed the high rate of corruption on the collapse of moral values in families, emphasizing the need for every home to begin to give priority to both quoranic and western education when raising children 

The Cleric added that combination of quoranic and western education would produce morally upright individuals who would shun corruption and ensure justice in every aspect of human endeavour in the society 



He equally called for adequate welfare package for personnel in the Nigeria Police Force, for them to be more committed in fighting crime in the country 

Similarly Al-Haafidh Habeebuloh, an emerging young cleric called for collective responsibility of stakeholders fighting corruption and other forms of social vices , saying the rich individuals must support the education of children from poor families for crime rate to reduce in the society 





"As Muslim, we must support one another, the rich individuals must support the less privileged if want to tackle corruption and fight injustice in the society", he submitted 

The local council's chairman equally attributed the crime rate in the society to fake lifestyle of the youths who believe in shortcut to succeed, rather than working hard 

He asked parents to be more alive to their responsibilities, by investing in the education of their children and teaching them the right values at homes, in order to ensure society with less corruption and other forms of crime 














The dignitaries who attended the event include the Secretary General of the Ogun State Muslim Council, Asiwaju Kamal'deen Akintunde Esq, Wakeel Musulumi of Yorubaland Edo and Delta states Sheikh Iskeel Lawal (Sugar), Chief Imam of Gbagura , Prof. Kamal'deen Balogun, Chief Imam of Owu-Kingdom, Sheikh Sulaiman Kehinde as well as Chief Imam of Oke-Ogun, Imam Nuraen Zuraaq and that of the Abeokuta North Local Government, Alhaji Rufai Musliudeen Adigun 

The event also the likes of Vice-Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Taiyelolu Egbeyemi, Leader of the House, Right Honourable Erubami Moruf Ajani, former member of Ogun State House of Assembly (Abeokuta North constituency) Hon.Lukmon Femi Adiro, amongst other top officials of the local council
