Ogun State Government has trained public school administrators, as well as public primary and secondary schools teachers across the State on how to efficiently navigate the AI Powered Ogun Learning Enhancement and Academic Resource Network (OgunLEARN) platform.
The training is part of the government's efforts to ensure that impartation of knowledge is done seamlessly and effectively in schools
The State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu during the One-day training organised by the Ministry for the selected teachers and school heads, held at Cinema Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, said since technology has been introduced to enhance teaching and learning, hence the need to build their capacity teachers for them to be relevant in the discharge of their duties.
Prof. Arigbabu noted that digitalising education sector would open doors to endless possibilities, make learning more accessible, engaging, and effective,
Commissioner Arigbabu added that the AI-generated lesson plan that was launched in January 2026 would lift the burden of tedious planning, allow teachers to focus on imparting knowledge and shaping the minds of young ones, which is the most important aspect of education.
The Commissioner recalled that Smart Televisions, Laptops, iPads and Solar power units have been distributed to 236 out of the 520 secondary schools in the State on the first phase, pledging that other schools would also enjoy the benefit in the second phase that would begin soon.
"For you to understand the content of the training, and have the deeper knowledge about the nitty gritty of OgunLEARN platform, you must continually use it", Arigbabu said
On his part, the Chairman, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu noted that the Commission is planning continuous digital capacity training and for Secondary School teachers in the state, for them to be technologically empowered in carrying out their duties as teachers. As he enjoined them to embrace the initiative and upgrade themselves.
Speaking, the Chairman of Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Evang. Olalekan Ifede charged teachers to brace up, be dedicated to their teaching profession and give room for improvement, in order to complement the effort of the present administration towards providing qualitative and assesible education to the citizenry
Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Oluwatosin Oloko said the introduction of OgunLEARN was not only to relieve teachers of the burden of writing lesson notes, but to also make transfer of knowledge easier, enjoining participants to pay rapt attention to every bit of the training and ask necessary questions for clarification.
In their separate remarks, the Chairmen, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, Dr. Felix Agbesanwa and Nigerian Union of Teachers, Ogun State, Chapter, Comrade Noah Sewakanu represented by the Union Assistant Secretary. Comrade Adebowale Ebenezer, commended the Commissioner for transforming the sector through technology innovation which has taken the sector to a higher pedestal among the others.
In another scenario, the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu in his office at Oke-Mosan decorated and rewarded some female learners who have done the State proud during an international mathematics competition said the generosity was to encourage them for their hardworking and brilliant performance.
Prof. Arigbabu said each learner was rewarded based on the category of the award won, explaining that 3 gold medalists were given One Hundred Thousand Naira Each, Five Silver Medalists Seventy Five Thousand Naira each, while each of the Nine Medalists went home with Fifty Thousand Naira.
