Ogun 2026 Budget: Gov. Abiodun Assures Completion Of 34 mega-watts Power Project To Boost Electricity In Abeokuta

 



Governor Dapo Abiodun has expressed the readiness of his administration to complete the ongoing 34 mega-watts independent power project at the Onijangagan near Abeokuta, to boost electricity supply to the Ogun State capital and its environs in the coming fiscal year 

Governor Abiodun who gave the assurance on Wednesday, while presenting the over N1.66 trillion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year before members of the State House of Assembly in Abeokuta led by Right Honourable Oludaisi Elemide, listed the power plant as one of the key capital projects that will be completed in the coming year 

He said the power plant on completion would ensure steady supply of electricity to government's key facilities and enhance business and other commercial activities within Abeokuta 

Prince Abiodun also unfolded the plan of his government to build Gateway International Conference Centre with befitting banquet hall and other facilities 


According to him,  facilities at the  three stadia in Sagamu,  Ijebu- Ode and Ilaro will be upgraded to international stadium 

Governor Abiodun also assured that the budget implementation would focus on reconstruction and construction of more classrooms and laboratories in secondary schools and hostels facilities on campuses to ensure conducive learning environment for students in public tertiary institutions amongst others priority legacy projects 

The 2026 Appreciation Bill christened " Budget of Sustainable Legacy" has a budget size of ₦1.669 trillion, which is  a 63% growth over the 2025 Budget. 

The proposed expenditure comprises of ₦624.76 billion (37%) as recurrent expenditure and ₦1.044 trillion (63%) as capital expenditure.
