LASU Matriculates 14,893 Students Out Of Over 70,000 Applicants For 2025/2026 Session, Warns Against Sexual Harassment




No fewer than 14,893(Fourteen thousand, Eight hundred and Ninety-three fresh students out of the over 70,000 applicants seeking admission into the Lagos State University, have been matriculated for the 2025/2026 academic session with a strong warning that management of the university would not tolerate any form of sexual harassment or gender-based violence 


Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello during the matriculation ceremony held on Monday on the Ojo main campus of the institution, urged new students to take advantage of the rare opportunity given to them to study at LASU by focusing on their academic pursuits, saying the administration of the university has zero tolerance for Sexual and Gender based violence, hence the establishment of the Directorate of Response and Preventive of Sexual and Gender based violence. 

"I must also stress that the University under my administration has zero tolerance for Sexual and Gender based violence, and that informed our decision to establish the Directorate of Response and Preventive of Sexual and Gender based violence. Do not keep silent when you are harassed or assaulted in any manner. “if you see something, say something”.

She also cautioned them against other social vices including cultism, hooliganism, examination malpractices and indecent dressings amongst others 

"The university has zero tolerance for cultism;avoid examination malpractices, 
do away with corruption and hooliganism and other vices that can expose you to danger as those found culpable will be dealt with in line with our disciplinary mechanisms", she warned 

The Vice-Chancellor however assured them of conducive learning environment on campus, pledging that the university will continue to prioritize their safety and welfare 







She enjoined them to always abide by the rules and regulations of the university and focus on their various causes of study to excel at the end of academic 

"As young men and women desirous of a brighter future, it is expected that you abide with the University’s rules and regulations and remain committed to your studies"

"I enjoin you to strive for academic excellence in all that you do. It is my prayer that at the end of your programmes, we shall come together to celebrate your graduation," she said
