The Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration has given out 19 Million Naira cash award to appreciate students who distinguished themselves in their academic pursuits in various tertiary institutions across Ogun State
The cash awards further demonstrate the administration's commitment to always reward students who worked very hard to attain academic excellence at the end of their studies in tertiary institutions
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, during the distribution of the cheques in Abeokuta, to the best graduating students from Olabisi Onabanjo, Mountain Top and Babcock Universities as well as Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbes, said the present administration had been consistent in rewarding excellence right from inception, assuring that it would continue to prioritise education.
Prof. Arigbabu noted that the government’s investment on qualitative and accessible education had yielded desired results, saying students and teachers now stood out in winning laurels back to back in State-based, National and International competitions.
"It is significant to note that our Governor believes in rewarding excellence and this is the reason this has been regularly done year by year. We are doing it again, because when you reward excellence, it has a way of encouraging others to do well" the Commissioner submitted
Speaking, the Vice Chancellor, Mountain Top University, Prof. Elijah Ayolabi commended the present administration for it giant stride and landmark achievement in the State education sector through its developmental Initiatives and Innovations.
Responding, two of the best graduating students, Aishat Dauda from Olabisi Onabanjo University and Sodiq Afolabi from Ogun Institute of Technology Igbesa appreciated the Government for the cash award, pledging they'll continue to do their best and be good ambassadors of the State.
