Ogun Economic Transformation Project Trains Over 30,000 Skilled Labour In Two Years , Opens Job Hub In Abeokuta, Two Other Centres








Over 30,000 Skilled workers have been trained in various trades and vocational jobs by the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) under the World Bank funded Ogun Skill Fund initiative in the past two years, just as it opened job hubs in Abeokuta, the State capital as well as in Ota and Ijebu-Ode as part of measures being taken to empower skilled labour and drastically reduce unemployment rate in the state 

The Projects Co-ordinator of OGSTEP, Mosunmola Owo-odusi  who revealed this on Wednesday in an interview with newsmen on the sideline of formal opening of Ogun Job Hub at the State Technical College, Idi-Aba in Abeokuta , said over 10,000 of the Skilled labour now have improved earnings and doing well in their respective trades and vocational jobs 


The OGSTEP Co-ordinator urged unemployed university graduates and other youths to take advantage of the facilities at the newly opened job hubs under Ogun State Fund initiative by visiting web portal of the agency or visit any of the skill acquisition centres in Abeokuta, Ota and Ijebu-Ode 

The Ogun Job Hub according to her, has the required working tools for skilled individuals without necessary tools to come and make use of such equipped workshops, while the centre also serve as a link between employers of labour and skill labour seeking for right employment 


She disclosed that the job hubs powered by German agency GIZ, also prepared Skilled labour with the necessary techniques of how to prepare their  Curriculum Vitae for interview and get the right jobs 












"We have over Certificated 150 trainers who had gone through rigorous training to train others and monitor the progress of their trainees on completion of the vocational training"

The OGSTEP Co-ordinator described Ogun Skill Fund as a well-structured model created to sustain the training programme,(National Skills Qualification) NSQ to empower the trainees with the needed vocational skills, provide working tools and link skilled labour seeking for the right jobs with employers of labour


Similarly Skills Development Specialist, Engr. Adesegun Fatoki in his earlier power- point presentation on Skills Development In Ogun State: The Journey So Far ", at the event, says the 150 trainers under the Ogun Skills Fund initiative are now qualified Assessors, Career Advisors, and Quality Assurance Officers who are always available to provide vocational training  programmes under National Skills Qualification NSQ 




He added that the National Council on Establishment had approved the integration of National Skills Qualification NSQ level 1-5 in the scheme of service on 13th December, 2023



Governor Dapo Abiodun represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele accompanied by the State Chief Economic Adviser and Finance Commissioner, Dapo Okubadejo and Education Science and Technology Commissioner , Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu later officially inaugurated the Ogun Job Hub in Abeokuta, expected to be replicated in Ota and Ijebu-Ode
